Manibhavan

Shri.Dhirubhai Mehta is very much associated with the running and activities of Mani Bhavan.

Mani Bhavan has a special significance in the history of our freedom struggle. Mahatma Gandhi often stayed here from 1917 to 1934.

It is witness in the course of Glorious movement to some of the momentous decisions and mighty movements in the glorious saga of our fight for freedom.

Mani Bhavan houses two organizations, which are engaged in the propagation of Gandhian Teachings. They are Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Mumbai and Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya.

Today,Mani Bhavan Gandhi Sangrahalaya houses a museum of articles associated with Gandhiji. Nearly two hundred and fifty tourists including those from foreign countries come to Mani Bhavan every day to see this museum. There is a reference library containing mainly literature of the Independence movement, Gandhian Thought and Rural Development.

It is at Manibhavan Where Dhirubhai met Martin Luther King JR and interacted with him.
